Before you change anything, you have to find what's actually broken. The visible problem is rarely the real problem. A team that misses deadlines might have a clarity problem, an accountability problem, a hiring problem, or a leadership problem. Each one has a different fix. This step is structured questioning until you can name the one thing that, if you solved it, would make the other things smaller or disappear. If you can't name it in one sentence, you haven't found it yet.

Once you know the root, you decide what the solution looks like and what work is required to get there. This is two layers. The strategy is the direction you've chosen. The projects are the specific initiatives with owners, timelines, and a clear measure of done. Without projects, strategy is a Pinterest board. Without strategy, projects are busywork.

This is where most plans die. You don't need more discipline, you need a feedback loop. Someone outside the daily grind who checks the work, adjusts the plan as new information surfaces, and calls it out when execution starts drifting from the strategy. Implementation without guidance is how good plans end up shelved.
